Retreats

Retreats are currently offered twice a year at the Broadmoor Community Church. These gatherings are open to the general public and are led by Soul-Link board members and/or invited guest facilitators. The retreats consist of presentation, quiet time for reflection, small and large group discussions. The purpose of the retreat is to introduce to each other, people of like mind and heart, and to enhance their awareness of the spiritual dimension of their lives.

Service

Because Soul Link believes that spirituality is about caring for others as well as caring for one's soul, we offer an opportunity to experience serving the poor of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Groups will visit and attend to the needs of those in orphanages, daycare centers, hospitals, AIDS clinics and neighborhood kitchens. This experience is made possible through "Travel with a Purpose". Book Group

For many people reading is a source of stimulation not only for the mind but the soul as well. The written word can heighten our awarness of the Spirit's presence and motivate us to attend to matters of the soul. Soul Link invites you to join with others who wish to share insights gleaned from their reading. Book Group meetings take place once a month (usually the forth Monday of the month) from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. Contact Vicki Rector (719) 229-9868 for more information.

Education

In order to further our grasp of the spiritual reality that is our common bond, Soul-Link participants are offered educational opportunities having to do with the health of mind, body, and spirit. These offerings are led by invited presenters and others who have expertise in pertinent areas.

Newsletter

A bi-annual newsletter and other mailings are sent to all Soul-Link participants. The purpose of the communication is three-fold: To convey information about upcoming activities, to offer articles of interest for reflection, and to provide periodic updates regarding future plans and activities for Soul-Link. Please see the Newsletters webpage for the current newsletter.

Spiritual Direction

Spiritual direction is an age old practice entered into by those who want to nourish their interior life; that is, to experience the richness that comes with being attuned to the Spirit that is both within and beyond themselves.

Direction is usually a one-to-one conversation, but can also be done in group settings. In either case, the focus is the directee's experience of life, loss, relationships, work, prayer, etc., with the goal of identifying the "hand of God" in the midst of everyday, ordinary life. Unlike counseling, direction is not primarily about solving problems as much as it is recognizing the ways in which one is called to grow through the ups and downs of life.

Direction sessions normally take place once a month for an hour. They are usually face-to-face encounters but can also be entered into long distance by telephone or letter. Fees are determined on an individual basis.

Spirituality in the Workplace

Two decades ago the term "spirituality in the workplace" would have been considered an oxymoron, for spirituality was thought to be a private matter whose proper place was in one's mind and heart and, perhaps, in church. But today the association between spirituality and work is a cutting edge phenomenon not only in faith-based orginizations, but in businesses and corporations around the world.

Based on the recognition of the three dimensional nature of the person (body, mind, spirit) and on the distinction between spirituality and religion, business leaders have begun to realize that nurturing the whole person in a work setting positively influences engagement, productivity, retention and morale which makes their organization attractive to potential employees.

Through customized programs involving a combination of presentations, readings, experiential excersizes, reflection and discussion. Soul Link offers business leaders the opportunity to have a unique experience that can bring new life to the workplace.
